Let’s Celebrate Picture Book Month!

The month of November has been designated as Picture Book Month.  As a young child, I remember sitting in my grandmother’s lap and listening to her read-aloud.  When my grandmother would finish reading a story, I would beg her to read another one.  The beautiful, color illustrations in the book and the musical rhythm of the words in her voice made me want to grow up to be able to read just like her.  Picture books gave me the desire to want to learn to read.

My favorite picture book is Koala Lou by Mem Fox.  The main character in the story, Koala Lou, goes out of her way to get the attention and love of her mother.  The repetition of the words, “Koala Lou, I do love you,” makes me feel that the story is comforting, warm, and happy.

What is your favorite picture book?  Why?
